Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What lead you to the International Christian School of Vienna (ICSV)?

A. Even though my journey with the Lord began at a very young age, my path to becoming a missionary teacher didn’t begin until high school. While I was in high school I attended a Christian summer camp called Hume Lake. One day during the week our speaker asked who was ready to go wherever God called them to go. I knew then and there that God's plan was for me to travel somewhere overseas and become a missionary. I didn’t know when or where, but I heard His call. When I entered college my major was Intercultural Studies (a subject that had always fascinated me...even before I answered God's call) with an emphasis in Education. I never planned on being a teacher, but my father, in his wisdom, told me of the importance of studying something that I could use as part of my ministry or could bring in an income if needed. After taking my first teaching class, I KNEW that God wanted me to be a teacher, and eventually become a missionary teacher. This newfound revelation caused me to switch my major to Education with an emphasis in Intercultural Studies. Throughout the next seven years, God gave me many opportunities to experience the mission field through people I met, trips I went on, and a continued desire to go overseas.

After many years of waiting, growing, and molding, I know that God is finally calling me to the mission field as a missionary teacher at the International Christian School of Vienna. I can’t wait to experience the new journey He has in store for me!

Q. Is education really ministry?

A. YES! Education opens doors that you wouldn't believe. Parents are passionate about their kids and will do whatever they can to make their children successful. By being an affordable, quality, "American" style school and the best school they can send their children to, ICSV can draw in people who would normally never set foot into the door of a church because ICSV is the best school they can send their kids to. This provides the opportunity for me to share the Lord with students who may have never been given this chance.

Q. What kind of ministries are the missionary parents doing?

A. You name it they're doing it…Pastors, evangelists, church planters, pastoral training, Bible/Christian resource translation, refugee outreach, music ministry, Christian radio, etc.

Q. Why must you raise support if students are paying tuition?

A. One of the primary purposes for ICSV's existence is to be a support to the missionary community in and around Vienna. If the school paid a salary to the staff they would have to pay 140% of that amount in taxes to the government (10,000 becomes 24,000). That combined cost would push tuition costs way beyond what the missionaries could afford. Even amongst the non-missionary community ICSV reaches out to those that don't have a lot of money. Many, many students come from families that can't afford the other English speaking schools. They come to the school because it is affordable and it is in English. While at ICSV they hear the Gospel, see our lives, and hopefully come to know the Lord.  To date, 80% of our school population receive some form of financial support.

Q. How long is your commitment to the International Christian School of Vienna?

A. My initial commitment was from 2010-2012, but God has called me to stay until at least 2015.

Q. How much do you need to raise?

A. I am required to raise 100% of my financial support, a minimum of $2,500.00 per month.

Q. Can I contribute with an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)?

A. Yes, let me know if you are interested in getting an EFT form. I can give you one or email one to you.

Q. Where do I send my gift?

A. Please make sure that all donations have the account #2992 on the memo line. Contributions should be sent to:
