Caged Animals

Last week my sister Amy, my friends, Amanda and Carrie, and I went to visit the zoo at Schonbrunn Palace.  It is the world's oldest zoo and has many interesting creatures within it.  We actually had the opportunity to go into a bat cave and see bats flying free... unfortunately, they were flying around too much for any of us to have the courage to go in.  I did attempt an entry, but as soon as a bat touched me I quickly ran out screaming. :)  Enjoy the video of the monkeys swinging and the sloth moving (they really are slow!).

Giant red ant colony...DISGUSTING!!!

cute little monkeys that could fit in your hand

The infamous bat cave...notice the "Be Quiet" sign on the left
I broke that rule!

Battle of the Water Guns

For our end of the year party we had a water gun fight.  It was SO much fun!!!!  I loved being able to enjoy that time with my students (and I think they liked it a lot too).  It's not every day that a teacher gets to drench their student with water...at the same time, it's not every day that a student gets to drench their teacher with water either.

A Wonderful Way to End the Year

For the last chapel of the year, we spent the first half in worship.  After singing some of our favorite songs, we spent the remainder of the time talking about what God has done this past year and what we were thankful for.  Check out some of the responses.

Zipping through the Games

Elementary Field Day is an exciting morning full of games, laughter, and competition.  The entire elementary school is broken up into two teams, white and blue.  Within their class, each team tries to get the best score while playing 10 different games.  Enjoy some of the pictures below!

Year End Award Ceremony

With the end of a school year comes the end of the year awards.  I am proud to say that my students work VERY hard this year and exceeded most of my expectations.  There were required to do a lot and in the end they accomplished the goals.  All I can say to them is, "Thank you for doing your best!"

My one boy who likes posing for the camera :)

Running away from a picture :)

He's trying to peek at his award before I give it out...it was only his fifth time trying!
Winner of the Barnabas Encouragement Award...only 2 were given out this year

Xylophone Playing at Spring Concert

For the last music concert of the year, my students sang and played the xylophone.  They did an amazing job!  I think it was one of my favorite concerts this year.  Who knew I had such talented kids?!?  Just kidding...I knew I it all along!

With Primary

One day in May, I decided to invite the Primary class (Kindergarten in America) to read with my 4th grade students.  Each 4th grader picked out a book and then I buddied them up with a Primary student.  It was so much fun to see the "big kids" reading to the "little kids."

Valiant Effort

In 4th grade our favorite game at recess is dodgeball.  Not the kind of dodgeball where you are surrounded by others in a circle, but ICSV dodgeball (you'd have to see it to fully understand).  At the end of the year we decided to challenge the much larger 5th grade class to a dodgeball game.  After a very valiant effort, my students did not win the challenge.  Even with the loss, I am still VERY proud of them!

Undeniably Enjoyable

For the past few months I have greatly enjoyed being on a co-ed softball team named the Greenhorns.  Every week we get together and play one of the five other teams in the league.  My team has been a lot of fun and we've even been winning!  At the end of the regular season, we are ranked in 2nd place.  Up next will be the semi-finals and finals...I can't wait to see what happens!  You are welcome to check out the team blog here, but be warned...everything is in German. :)

The Jump Rope Challenge

For a graphing project this year, we completed several different activities.  One of the activities involved graphing the number of jumps each class member could complete in 30 seconds.  Our big winner this year was Soyoung!
